MEMPERSIAPKAN KADET UNGGUL DI ATAS KAPAL: STRATEGI ADAPTASI DAN PENGUATAN KOMPETENSI SEJAK DINI
Abstract
The sea practice period (Prala) is a crucial phase in shaping the character and competence of cadets as future maritime officers. During this stage, cadets are expected not only to understand technical tasks but also to adapt to the onboard working environment and culture. This community service activity aimed to equip cadets of Politeknik Pelayaran Banten with mental preparedness and adaptive strategies through a public lecture titled “How to Become an Excellent Cadet?”. The lecture covered real-life challenges faced by cadets, the significance of performance, and key success factors such as self-motivation and social adaptation. The program was conducted through an interactive lecture by an experienced maritime practitioner, followed by group discussions and individual reflections. The results indicated a significant increase in cadets’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities during Prala, as well as greater awareness of work ethics, discipline, and lifelong learning. This activity demonstrates that cadet success is not solely based on technical knowledge, but also heavily influenced by personal character and the willingness to learn.
