Abstract

The selection of village officials is a strategic process that significantly influences the quality of village governance. In 2023, the author served as an executor of the village official selection process in Rembang Regency, based on Regent Regulation No. 9 of 2022. This community engagement initiative aimed to ensure that the selection process adhered to the principles of transparency, accountability, and meritocracy. The implementation methods included regulatory socialization, technical assistance for village committees, and field evaluations of the selection process. The results showed increased public participation, stronger compliance with regulations, and reduced potential for social conflict. This article reflects on the practical implementation of the village official selection and offers recommendations to enhance local recruitment governance.
